On TCM 9/15/16 -Friendly Persuasion (1956)- a gift from Master Director William Wyler-a very soul searching movie about a pacifist family during the difficult times of the American Civil War with great performances by Gary Cooper, Dorothy McGuire and Oscar nominated here Anthony Perkins. Lovely music scoring by Dimitri Tiomkin with the hit song “Thee I Love” sung by Pat Boone add to Wyler’s peaceful atmosphere and there is even a little comic relief by Marjorie Main as “The Widow Hudspeth” and Samantha, the pet goose.
